INCENSE BURNER SHAPE TYPES

In this page the main incense burner shape types are shown.

POT
Pot with three or four legs with or without a lid
Lid usually with many holes. Round, square or octogonal shape.
Synonyms: koro(Japan)
BOWL
Bowls are perfect for burning up incense sticks, as well as cones, coils, resin...
(with or without a lid)
Synonyms: chawan (japanese ceramic bowl used to serve tea)
ASCHCATCHER
Flat burner, with a carved channel for catching ash from the burning stick.
Usually long and narow, sometimes circular.
Synonyms:
AROMA LAMP
The upper bowl is filled with water and a few drops of essential oils. The tea candle beneath warms the oil with the water and the fragrance is dispersed into the air.

ALADDIN'S LAMP
These lamps are designed to reflect the appearance of the legendary Aladdin's lamp, and will burn cone or powder incense

Characterized by a bulbous body set on a high, narrow foot

SPHERE
Spherical incense burners, were hung from the ceiling or from the vault of an arch.

CENSER
Incense burners are also called Censer, but the term is usually used for burner used in religious ceremonies. They were hung from the ceiling.
